#Spawnuary Entries

During January, Todd McFarlane initiated a contest/promotion called SPAWNUARY. Each week throughout the month featured a different theme, centered around various Spawn characters/books. Initially, McFarlane announced there would be only four picks, one for each week. However, due to the substantial number of submissions, he recently indicated there would be 4-5 winners per week, totaling roughly 20 winners, as my guess goes. Apart from earning a spot on an alternative cover, winners receive no additional rewards — just bragging rights.

I submitted two entries: Classic Spawn and Gunslinger Spawn. Each piece took around 15-20 hours. Through this process, I certainly gleaned a few valuable lessons that I intend to apply in future works.

I’m eager to delve deeper into experimenting with stylistic choices.

GUNSLINGER SPAWN

Part of the entry rule was to use the hashtag #spawnuary, which allowed everyone to view each other’s entries. The sheer volume of high-quality artwork submitted was astounding. So, if my entries are selected, I’ll be sure to update the post accordingly.

Update

My entries did not get selected. Still enjoyed making these.
